well then folks at University Relations should do a better job of letting people know about him.

and other fans sites to pick up the challenge. NDSU was the only FCS team last year, and I believe that SDSU will be the only one this year. NDSU almost won it all but fell in the final. I'd love to see the Jacks do as well this year.
Our mascot is holding up his ears. I've never liked the drooping ears. Jackrabbit ears don't droop. Yeah, picky, but the old mascot head had ears that were erect.
I have wondered for decades if our mascot has a name. Either it does, or it doesn't. If it does, or is, to have a name, the university should determine and publicize it. Of course, the next can of worms, is the rabbit a he or a she? Perhaps University Relations will tell us that too, or perhaps it will be obvious by the name.

Since one or more of you are most likely reading this post, don't get pi$$ed off at us for not knowing the proper name of the Jackrabbit. Now that Jack is becoming more visible in the state, it is time you put your money where you mouth is and issue a press release. You know the kind where you tell us the name, how it got the name, the sex, hobbies, the like. Being misinformed is one thing, being misinformed because someone in the Relations department dropped the ball is another.
Yep, "The Rabbit" is what I remember as a kid, student, and parent. I don't think I heard "Jack State" until last year. However, I readily admit that my memory from childhood is faded at best, my years as a student were often hazy, and as a parent I may have been to distracted to notice.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.
A couple of years ago my daughter who was 3 years old at the time walked around for days after an SDSU basketball game telling everyone, "That Jackrabbit boy, he kissed me on my hand. He loves me and I think he wants to marry me."
More to the point, I remember hearing the Jack State name last year and not really liking it, but I'm a stickler for the rules so that is how I referred to him since I saw it that way. I very much like Jack Rabbit. Just stay away from my daughter.
The Zen philosopher Basha once wrote, 'A flute with no holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish.'
I have to say, "Jack Rabbit" makes altogether too much sense IMHO for the mascot to have any different name. "Jack State" just has a very harsh sound to my ears.
And I'd stay with "Jack(ie) Rabbit" for women's athletic events . . .
(Yeah, I know the preferred spelling of the nickname is Jackrabbit, not Jack Rabbit, but we're talking about a mascot name here.)
