Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. We've got a school fundraiser that night as well but I think my wife is going to make the sacrifice and take the kids while I mingle at the social. She isn't necessarily happy about it but she is understanding. I guess I'll owe her one.We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler

Re: Yankton Jackrabbit Club Social
SDSU coaches and President Chicoine were absolutely great tonight! They arrived in Yankton this afternoon and left just a little bit ago.
President Chicoine spoke first and he announced that the enrollment will be nearly 12,300 this fall with a goal of 13,200 in the next 3-4 years. He talked about the new dorm and the engineering building. He spoke about the 51 million dollar Avera Science building and how important it is to the mission at SDSU. He spoke about the Dykehouse center and what it means to athletics and academics for athletes.
Stig, Nagy and AJ all spoke about their programs. Stig reiterated that the expectation is a national championship, last year was therefore a disappointment. He told us how proud he was of the program and the level its at without facilities similar to other programs and how the new athlete development center will be a great addition. He has never recruited players who want to play somewhere just because of facilities but the new facility certainly won't hurt. He wants more support from boosters and fans. We are 1.3 million dollars behind the leaders in the MVFC and we need to close that gap. He wants butts in the seats. If you don't understand that the best show in the state in happening in Brookings you aren't paying attention.
Nagy mentioned how excited he is about next season and recruiting this spring. Things seem to be headed in the right direction, finally. He mentioned that he is expecting a verbal in the next couple of days and that he is excited about the players he has coming in. He spoke specifically about White and Fiegen, no intention to redshirt them. If they are deemed ready they will play. I haven't seen coach quite so upbeat, he looked good.
AJ thanked everyone for support this year and asked it to continue. He spoke about Jen and Stacey and Ashley and Morgan. The first 3 are all getting married this summer. They aren't replaceable but we will reload. He is excited about the incoming freshman. Didn't say anything about redshirting plans.
After the program all the coaches spent time with those in attendance. They each seemed to enjoy whatever questions were asked. It seemed like they would have been willing to stay all night if they could.
If you want these coaches to come to your community all you have to do is provide them a venue and get some people out to show them support. We expect everyone of them to be back for the golf event in Yankton on June 3rd and each of them is hopeful they can make it. Great time was had by all.We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler

Good report, JackMD. Thanks. What was the attendance? I think Watertown should be able to learn from what you're doing in Yankton. We have a lot of SDSU Alums and fans in Watertown but we need to get organized like you have in Yankton.

As MD said, the coaches did a great job and the president was as good as always.
It is a great time to be a Jackrabbit. We really have some classy people leading us.

Imagine the impact if what has been done in Yankton is duplicated in every major town in the state! Any questions about USD joining the Summit and scheduling them down the road and the AD situation?

Sioux Falls has been going for quite a few years with the Sioux Empire Staters. Rapid City has a group that is going as well. JackJD, if you want any help getting it set up and going in Watertown, I'm sure anyone involved would be more than willing to help. However the best place to start would be with the Alum Assoc. Matt & his crew are fabulous to work with.

No discussion about the future AD. Most of the crowd didn't want a press conference type atmosphere so everyone kept it very social. We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler
