  • Message boards & NCAA Rules

I saw a link on Bisonville (courtesy of Ming01) to an ESPN Story about a Facebook page and possible violation of NCAA recruiting rules. Here's a link to the story: ESPN STORY LINK

Re: Message boards & NCAA Rules

Basically, ANY direct contact between any school's backers and a prospective student-athlete, in any form, in person, via the Internet, texting, or anything else, is a potential NCAA violation.

If you're some kid's next-door-neighbor, just saying "hey, have you looked into going to Wherever U." to the kid is, to the NCAA, a potential recruiting violation if you have any relationship AT ALL with Wherever U. (And yes, the NCAA considers your membership on boards like this to be a relationship with the university, as mind-boggling as that is to normal folks who actually live and work in the real world.)

So, be careful around prospective student-athletes.
