  • Sdsu foundation set record for 2008

There was a very interesting story in The Brookings Register this week. The SDSU Foundation raised over 52 million last year. The article mentions 1079 first time donors. The article also mentions the Vision Campaign in the 1990's where a 5 year goal was to raise 50 million. Most of the projects in that campaign are completed such as the upgrade to the Journalism and Engineering buildings. Those two come to my mind, but a good part of it was for academic scholarships such as the Guarantee Jackrabbit Scholarship. The amount raised or pledged during 2008 is greater than the goal of 5 years in the 1990's. Its hard to believe we are in a period of economic decline when you consider this past year's results.
Hats off to all who have had a part in the current campaign.

Wow, this is good stuff here folks. It would be a good gesture to thank all the staff over at the foundation office as they all play a part in a most important role at SDSU. Thanks especially to Mike Burgers who now leads the fundraising efforts for the athletic department now that Keith Malum has moved over to be the Vice President of the Foundation.
