If you want to buy Cokes and popcorn for the family, figure another $10-$20. So the total cost of a family to go to a game is between $58-$76. Not exactly small change for the average family.
Not quite sure if I am understanding your point here. If you are talking about the cost of going to a game in Brookings v. a game in SF, the only difference is the gas cause you will be buying tickets and treats anywhere you go. I don't think the travel is a strong argument being only 45 minutes from Btown.

I drive 2 hours one way to go to games and went to all but one FB game and made it to about a dozen BB games. The game is the cheapest part for me after feeding daughter and her friends at Cubbies before the games. I still like playing the games in Btown, but wouldn't be against a special event in SF.

I'm concerned about a couple of things with playing football in S.F. The football game a couple years ago had a low turnout. Also, you give away a home field advantage for football. At the level we are playing at, we can't afford to be giving away any advantage.

I do agree with basketball. One non conference game in S.F. might not be a bad idea.

That is what I was thinking also. FB stays in Btown, but a BB game in SF (non-conference) I could live with...

What I'm saying is that to spend that kind of money, lots of folks may only go to 1 or 2 football games and 1 or 2 basketball games. If we can get a few more people from the SF area to attend 2-4 events per year, I think you would see a pretty decent increase in attendance. Word of mouth from avid State fans is a good start, but it would be nice to see more reaching out from SDSU down here.

I was in Sheels last night and there was 0 merchandise for sale with the new logo.

To me it doesn't seem like that hard of a concept to understand: if you have a product for sale and want an increase in sales, you market where there are the most people who can buy your product.

Again, I'm not saying games need to be moved to Sioux Falls. What I am saying is that SDSU needs to establish itself in the marketplace before competitors. Otherwise, 10 years from now it will be that much harder to gain marketshare.

I am on the same page with you now...Even though I do not live in SF, I agree we need to go where the people are. If we do not get our market share now, it is not going to get any easier. I know we have kicked around the broadcast network and I have heard some of the reasons why the administration is looking toward the web for this and I can't say that I totally agree with that approach. If we don't get visible in the population areas, we are going to lose out to Udot and the semi-pro teams for support. I think the Rapid City region would be very easy to link up to through WNAX, but the administration needs to give that the OK. I also hope that the women's BB could get better radio coverage other than the net.

Ok here is how I see it..... SDSU is a Brookings based college and thats where everybody goes to school so all football games should be there because theres only a handful of those games a year. Basketball I wouldn't have a problem with playing in Sioux Falls but the problem is the arena..... The arena is not the best place to watch a basketball game, Frost is 10 times better also the fact that the Skyforce and Stampede are regular tenants and would get the good dates so I don't think playing in Sioux Falls is the easiest thing to do..... Also I still think that the people that will show up in Sioux Falls are the same people that go to Brookings right now....

. . . . and they won't succeed in bringing the game day atmosphere with them.
