SDSU standout honored at University of Idaho

Pat Dobratz is going into another hall of fame.
The Sioux Falls native, who was inducted into the South Dakota State University Hall of Fame in 1995, joins the 57-member inaugural class for the University of Idaho Vandal Athletics Hall of Fame.
Dobratz coached the UI women’s basketball team from 1980-86. She compiled a 142-39 overall record and led Idaho to four postseason playoff appearances, including its first NCAA tournament appearance. Her 1985-86 team won the Women’s NIT.
Before her coaching career, Dobratz was a standout athlete for the Jackrabbits. She was the first SDSU player to score 1,000 or more career points in women’s basketball and competed for the Jacks in tennis and volleyball. She led SDSU to four straight state AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) championships in basketball (1971-74) and to three regional playoff appearances in volleyball.
Dobratz scored 1,334 points during her Jackrabbit career which spanned 71 games. She still holds the SDSU record for highest single-season scoring average, 22.1 points per game, in 1972, and for highest career scoring average, 18.8 points per game.
