Serious business:
One of the details incidental to the switch to D I that appears to have been overlooked involves re-examining our fan "slogans" and "retorts". Is anyone studying this problem?
For example, will we have to change one of the school songs: FAR ACROSS THE PLAINS OF BROOKINGS....?
Another example: As students, we were prepared to win the war of retorts by out-shouting the school from the South when its fans said HATE STATE and we screamed back SCREW THE U!
We may need an ad hoc committee to start meetings pronto...perhaps a former Weary Willie or Dirty Lil can take the lead on this problem. I've put some thought into it...how's this one: If we ever run into Coyotes in a sports venue in the future (which is uncertain), and they yell HATE STATE, we can yell back "WHO'S THE U?" (okay, not gramatically perfect but it mimics the old standard and inserts a new insult!).
I think FAR ACROSS THE PLAINS OF BROOKINGS may be doomed.
Go Rabbits.
