The South Dakota State University women's soccer team remained unbeaten at Fishback Soccer Park as the Jackrabbits and College of St. Mary (Neb.) battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon.
The Jackrabbits moved to 4-9-1 on the season, while CSM moved its record to 11-5-3. SDSU is 6-0-5 in its two seasons at Fishback Soccer Park and ran its home unbeaten streak to 12, dating back to the 2002 season.
After a scoreless first half, Alissa Bernth put the Jackrabbits on the board first, scoring on a free kick from 35 yards out in blustery conditions at the 74-minute mark. It was Bernth's first goal of the season.
The Flames scored the equalizer in the 86th minute as Molly McGowan slipped past the SDSU defense on a pass from Carly Failla and beat Jackrabbit goalkeeper Jenn Davis.
Neither team had much in the way of scoring opportunities in the two 10-minute overtime sessions. Davis made one of her nine saves in overtime. CSM goalkeeper Laura Forbes stopped seven shots in the match but did not face a shot on goal in either overtime.
SDSU held an 18-13 advantage in shots for the match, which was physical throughout as the teams combined for 34 fouls.
The Jackrabbits conclude their weekend homestand Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Augsustana at Fishback Soccer Park.
