Distance medley relay team sets record
LINCOLN, Neb. -- For the second time this season, the South Dakota State University women's distance medley relay team established a new school record as the Jackrabbits competed Saturday at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.
The team of Becka Mansheim, Ashley Adams, Shannon Hattervig and Sheena Dauer clocked a record time of 12 minutes, 5.33 seconds, shattering the previous mark of 12:47.84 set by Hattervig, Kari Schaefer, Cortney Costello and Dauer in the season-opening MSU Alumni Open Jan. 15 in Mankato, Minn. The Jackrabbits finished second in the Saturday's race, 13 seconds behind Baylor (Texas).

In men's competition, Jared Schwader was the top Jackrabbit finisher with a fifth-place effort in the shot put. Schwader's throw of 51 feet, 10 1/2 inches bettered his previous season best by more than a foot.
Ben Johnson reached the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles, placing 12th overall in a time of 8.49 seconds.
