Nelson leaves SDSU for Morningside
South Dakota State University assistant volleyball coach Aaron Nelson has resigned to take the head coaching position at Morningside College (Iowa).
An assistant under head coach Andrew Palileo for two seasons, Nelson inherits a Mustang program that has produced a school-record three consecutive 20-win seasons, including a 23-13 mark in 2004, while competing in the NAIA and the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Nelson, who helped guide SDSU to a 22-12 record in its first season at the NCAA Division I level in 2004, is the second Jackrabbit volleyball assistant coach to earn a head coaching position this month. Former graduate assistant TeAna Crutcher was named head coach at Cameron University (Okla.) on March 2.
A search to find Nelson’s successor will begin immediately. Former Jackrabbit standout Liz Archer has joined the SDSU coaching staff in Crutcher's previous position.
Congratulations to Coach Nelson (and Coach Crutcher) and thank you for your efforts. It is a good sign when your assistant coaches are getting head coaching jobs.
Go State! ;D
