Here are a couple of Stories from Ill. St.:

Redbird Baseball Set For Home Opener

NORMAL, Ill.-- After playing the first 17 games of the season on the road, the Illinois State baseball team is set for their home opener, as they host the University of Missouri on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Redbird Field. The Redbirds will also play host to South Dakota State at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday before opening up Missouri Valley play wtih a three-game set against Creighton beginning Friday.

Illinois State (8-9) welcomes a very hot Missouri (17-4) team to Redbird Field to begin a 10-game home stand. The Tigers have won their last nine games and have averaged 14 runs per game during the winning streak. Illinois State and Missouri played on March 9 in Columbia, Mo., with the Tigers winning 15-2.

South Dakota State (3-14) comes to town on Thursday for the first ever meeting between the two schools. Although the Jackrabbits don’t have an overwhelming record, they have been very successful in their last three games. SDSU defeated Notre Dame on March 19 and lost two one-run games to Evansville, the first place team in the Valley, on March 19 and 20. . . .

The Jackrabbits, have replaced the Missouri Tigers as Illinois State's home opener (maybe, will see if they get the game in).

NORMAL, Ill.-- The Illinois State baseball game scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 with the University of Missouri has been rained out. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.

The game with Missouri was to be the home opener for Illinois State. Tomorrow’s home game with South Dakota State University is still scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Redbird Field.

Go Jackrabbits, beat the Redbirds!  ;D

        Re: Illinois State - Baseball

Don't know for sure but it looks like the game might have been called due to weather. Not sure if the game is going to count. Accourding to the Gametracker it is the bottom of the 5th (Ill. St. 5 - SDSU 1) and Ill. State has the bases loaded with no outs, but in the caption box it says "game over". ???

          It did count.

          Baseball Loses At Illinois State

NORMAL, IL - Illinois State scored four runs in the first inning and defeated South Dakota State 5-1 in a game called by rain in the fifth inning.

Illinois State starter Kitt Kopach held SDSU hitless through the first four innings before the Jacks scored in the fifth. Nick Adams led off with a walk, Kyle Sytsma singled and Chris Iverson doubled to drive home the run. Ned Schauff replaced Kopach on the mound and retired the side.  .  .  .

The Jacks, now 3-15 for the season, will play at Valparaiso Friday and Saturday. Illinois State is 9-9 and will begin Missouri Valley Conference play with a series at home against Creighton this weekend.

I would really like to see us sweep Valpo, it is possible although tough on the road.  After Valpo the Jackrabbits get to play their first home games of the season as they take on Rockhurst at Bob Shelden Field.  Good luck to the Jacks.

          Go State!  ;D
