SDSU volleyball schedule announced

South Dakota State will play a schedule made up entirely of Division I opponents during the upcoming 2005 volleyball season.
The Jackrabbits’ schedule is front-loaded with weekend tournaments, beginning Aug. 26-27 at a tournament hosted by the University of Oregon. SDSU also will play at tournaments hosted by Iowa State, North Dakota State and Wake Forest (N.C.) in September.
Home competition begins Sept. 27, when the Jackrabbits host Drake (Iowa) at Frost Arena. That will be the first of six scheduled home matches during the 2005 season.
SDSU will close out the season with a pair of tournaments in November: the NCAA Division I Independent Championships Nov. 10-12 in Greeley, Colo., and the Long Beach State Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 25-26.
The Jackrabbits completed their inaugural season at the Division I level in 2004 with a 22-12 overall record and top-100 ranking in the NCAA Division I volleyball RPI.

In addition, the Jackrabbits will host a pair of spring tournaments the next two weekends at Frost Arena.
SDSU will take on Creighton (Neb.) at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday (April 2), followed by a 3:30 p.m. match with North Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits will host a six-team, round-robin tournament with NCAA Division II and NAIA teams April 9, with action beginning at 9 a.m.
