    SDSU women win first D-I dual

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The South Dakota State University women's tennis team picked up its first dual victory over a Division I opponent with a 6-1 win over UMKC on Saturday.

    All seven Jackrabbit players earned a victory in either singles or doubles play as SDSU improved to 3-5 in spring duals.

    SDSU opened the weekend with an 8-1 loss Thursday at Rockhurst. Friday’s scheduled match at Missouri Valley College was canceled.

    The Jackrabbits return to action Friday with a home dual against Southwest Minnesota State. Start time is set for 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Courts.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The South Dakota State University men's tennis team dropped a pair of duals over the weekend, falling 9-0 to Rockhurst (Mo.) and 6-1 at UMKC.

    Sophomore Steve Grantz earned a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 4 singles for SDSU against UMKC on Saturday, and also teamed with Brian Robinson for a win at No. 2 doubles. UMKC won the other two doubles matches to earn the final team point.

    The Jackrabbits, 1-3 in spring competition, had their match scheduled for Friday at Missouri Valley College canceled.

    SDSU returns to action Saturday with a dual at Creighton (Neb.). Start time is set for 1 p.m. in Omaha.
