NDSU leads Jackrabbits for Dakota Cup

MORTON, Minn. – The South Dakota State University men’s and women’s golf team combined to put together a solid opening round to stand one point back of North Dakota State for the inaugural Dakota Cup. North Dakota State leads the Jackrabbits with a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 score.
Kelly Evans teamed with Steve Klock to put the Jacks on the board, defeating Eric Johnson and Holli Severson, 3-2. Kelli Endahl and Brodie Hullinger were next on the leaderboard for SDSU, scoring a half a point against Brock Graff and Briena Kappes. Mandy Hellmann, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., teamed with Luke Merkel, a freshman from Crofton, Neb., to defeat Jeff Thune and Ashley Anderson by one stoke to complete SDSU’s opening-round effort.
The tournament wraps up Sunday with 12 singles matches at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club near Morton, Minn.
