EUREKA -- The Redwoods baseball team had a season full of peaks and valleys, a roller coaster ride that saw them fall to the basement of the Golden Valley Conference standings before rebounding with a season-ending run. . . .
Infielder Adam Bugenig, outfielder/DH Talon Payne, infielder Nick Bestul and catcher Steve Morgan were all named to the second team, with Bugenig earning the honor in his freshman season. . . .
Morgan, a Eureka High grad and catcher for the Crabs, will be playing Division I ball next season when he attends South Dakota State to play for Reggie Christiansen. Morgan hit .290 for the Corsairs, with 11 doubles, a homer and 19 RBIs.
"Durability is the word with Steve," Brown said. "He's going to get a great opportunity and if he focuses on his conditioning and strength he can build whatever career he wants. He's a definite threat at the plate and was one of the top performers in the GVC." . . .
Go State! ;D
