Evans selected to academic team

South Dakota State University golfer Kelly Evans is one of 10 student-athletes to have been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team.
A junior microbiology major from Brookings, Evans holds the highest grade-point average on the squad with a perfect 4.00 GPA. She will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The all-district team was selected by sports information directors among Division I student-athletes competing in swimming, golf, skiing, tennis and gymnastics. The 10-member team compiled an average GPA of 3.84.
On the course, Evans earned second-team honors on the Division I Independent Women’s Golf Team this season after leading the Jackrabbits in stroke average for the second consecutive season at 83.6. She recorded a top-10 finish at the Augustana Invitational to open the spring season, and added four more top-20 finishes between the fall and spring seasons. She also was a second-team all-North Central Conference selection during the 2003-04 season.
