It is clear to me that being Championship eligible early has really help the Wrestling program. Coach Liles seems to have his old touch back! We are going to be very good again, and soon! 8)

Three more state champions sign at SDSU
Three South Dakota state champion wrestlers, including the nation's career leader in victories, have signed national letters of intent, indicating they will enroll at South Dakota State University in the fall and compete for the Jackrabbit wrestling program.
Signing recently were:
• Dan Bonte, 141-pounder, Garretson;
• Ryan Meyer, 149-pounder, Parkston, and
• Tyler Sorenson, 184-197 pounds, Garretson.
Bonte set the national high school career victories record at Garretson High School, compiling a 268-15 record en route to four state Class B titles. He won the 103-pound title as an eighth-grader, then won consecutive state titles at 119 pounds as a sophomore, 135 pounds as a junior and 140 pounds as a senior, when he received the outstanding wrestler award at the state meet. His record his last three seasons was 144-1, including a 130-match winning streak.
An academic all-state selection in both football and wrestling, Bonte plans to major in athletic training/pre-physical therapy at SDSU.
"I am excited to have Dan be a part of our program becasue he is a winner on and off the mat," SDSU head coach Jason Liles said. "He has the desire and work ethic to be successful at the next level."
Meyer recorded five top-three finishes at the state meet during his career at Parkston High School, including back-to-back championships at 152 pounds his junior and senior seasons. He ended his career with a 208-24 career mark under the tutelage of head coach Herb Harris, including an 84-3 record the past two seasons. Meyer placed third at 103 pounds as an eighth-grader, was third at 125 pounds as a freshman and took second at 135 pounds his sophomore season.
Also an academic all-stater in football and wrestling, Meyer intends to major in engineering at SDSU.
"Ryan is very athletic and a proven competitor," Liles said. "He is one of the top wrestlers in South Dakota and is a perfect fit for our wrestling program."
Sorenson also reached the 200-win plateau at Garretson High School under the direction of coach Jason Bohl. He capped his prep career with an undefeated season at 189 pounds, going 46-0 en route to a 234-48 career record. Sorenson, an honorable mention Elite 45 football player by the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, was state runner-up at 171 pounds as a junior, when his only loss came in the state title match. He placed third at 189 pounds as a sophomore and fifth in the 160-pound weight class as a freshman.
"We are pleased Tyler wants to be a part of the Jackrabbit wrestling family. He has the raw talent to be a force in the upper weights," Liles said.
The trio will join a Jackrabbit recruiting class that includes three-time Minnesota state champion Nick Kulseth, from Windom, Minn., and South Dakota 189-pound state Class A champion Chris Moran, of Rapid City Stevens High School.
SDSU completed its inaugural season at the NCAA Division I level in 2004-05 with a 10-8 dual record, including six victories over Division I opposition.
