Re: Most Memorable Stan Marshall Celebrity

Tommy Joe Crutcher. Was a friend and former employee of Pete Retzlaff. He came to Brookings one time (1992?).

Crutcher was in the All-American backfield with Roger Staubach in 1963.

Tommy Joe wore cowboy boots (spikes imbedded in the boots) during his round of golf. Also, when Tommy Joe ordered a beer, he didn't order just one. He would grab the waitress and say, "Darling, bring me a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon." That's right, he never ordered just one, he ordered 24. Plus, he would say, "Darling, make sure you open all of them when you bring them."

He bought a Pete Retzlaff trading card during the auction. He paid $850 for it. Tommy Joe was mad he wasn't forced to cough up $1,000.

    He was something.

This is not a celebrity story, but it was amazing to have somebody hit a hole-in-one last year to win $20,000. I believe it was Eric Peterson, and he was somewhat of a celebrity after that.

Not really a celeb, but a memorable moment. It was 1998.

The dueling piano group "The Ivory Kings" just blew the roof off the dump Sat night while a t-storm was rolling around above. That was the night of the tornado over in Spencer.
