    Re: NEW SCOREBOARDS

I was also thinking based on the quality and quanity of scoreboards we must have gotten a good deal from the Kurtenbachs. I'm sure the highest levels at both Daktronics and SDSU have been involved to get this deal done. Can't wait to see these new amenities in the respective venues.

Does anyone know the installation timeline for the new scoreboards at Coughlin and Frost. I would think with the proximity of the manufacturing plant and technicians that once completed it shouldn't take long to transport them on their one mile journey and get them set up?

        Re: NEW SCOREBOARDS

I believe the timeline is to have them done for next season. I used to work there my freshman year and it actually takes a little while. Because Dak has so many orders. Alot of times it is a minimum of six weeks once everything is finalized. We are buying two message boards to put up on sixth street to promote campus activities in general (athletics as well) but any activity. I took a tour yesterday afternoon and they are working on a CVS pharmacy order that they have been working on in phases since i worked there 2 summers ago. The order is probably over 1000 signs but they do them in phases. Depending on where they get scheduled they will take awhile before the build starts. However it is my understanding they will be in full view for our 7 home football games next year.

Why yes indeed. Saw the drawings and they look great. They had a video board that will be used in one of them behind the podium and it looked like my TV at home only much BIGGER. According the the Jackrabbit Athletics 2004-05 Annual Report, and I quote,

"The game-day experience for Jackrabbit football, basketball, volleyball and wrestling fans will never be the same again.

The department will be teaming up with Daktronics, Inc. to enhance the look and feel of the Stanley J. Marshall HPER Center and Coughlin-Alumni Stadium. This project will include the installation of state-of-the-art technology, new scoring systems and the integration of graphic design elements throught those venues in time for the 2005-06 school year. . . ."

              Go State! ;D

                Re: NEW SCOREBOARDS

With less than 60 days before our first football game of the 2005 season I was curious if anyone has seen any activity at Coughlin and Frost related to the scoreboard enhancements?

I was through Brookings a couple of days ago...they have North Campus Drive blocked off just south of the stadium and appeared to be removing some trees.

The other day, I wanted to drive by the staduim and the road was closed, but my curiousity did not force me to ask more questions. Thanks Filbert, I do believe work is in progress at CAS
