Two Jacks named to scholar golf team
South Dakota State University women's golfers Lindsey Brown and Kelly Evans have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association Division I All-American Scholar Team.
Brown, who will enter her senior season this fall, finished second on the Jackrabbit squad during the 2004-05 season with an 86.6 scoring average and earned honorable mention all-independent honors. The Fort Pierre native has compiled a 3.602 grade-point average while majoring in pharmacy.
Evans, a senior-to-be from Brookings, received academic recognition for the second time this summer. A first-team selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Team, Evans has compiled a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in microbiology. On the course, Evans earned second-team honors on the Division I Independent Women’s Golf Team this season after leading the Jackrabbits in stroke average for the second consecutive season at 83.6.
To be eligible for recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and played in at least two-thirds of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the 2004-05 season.
