  • KFAN coming to Sioux Falls

    http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs...510060342/1003

It looks like Craig and Mike are going to get a little competition in the Sioux Falls Sports Programming Market. PA and Dubay are very talented. PA is the voice of the Minnesota Vikings. I hope at some point they pick up Chad Hartman's show(voice of the Timberwolves) and Dan Barrerio (former Tribune columnist).

I hope you aren't talking about the KFAN Vikes announcers. They are very tough to listen to.

Listeners beware - you will get inundated with "rube" speak for the five hours KFAN will be broadcast. Personally I had to quit listening to KFAN because I got so sick of listening to "Superstar" Mike Morris on the Powertrip and PA and Dubay can get old really fast. That's my opinion though. If you're a Vikes fan, you'll love it because that's all they talk about. T'wolves get a little attention. Twins and Wild, good luck, they mention scores on occasion but never dedicated much time to actually discussing what was going on with either team. As as KFAN is the "Sports Leader", you'll find just as much non-sports talk as you do sports talk.

If you're die hard and want a sneak peak you can listen live online to all of KFAN's daytime broadcasts at www.kfan.com. An message board addicts will want to check out "Rube Chat". Your head will explode.

KFAN is alright. You have to take it with a grain of salt. The "Superstars" morning show is immature at best but good for an occasional laugh. They do a good job of covering the Vikes and Gopher FB.

PA and Dubay offer more insight especially regarding NFL FB and college hockey (who the hell cares about college hockey in SD?). They also run hard on the sarcasm side.

The afternoon shows, Hartman and Barriero, are much more insightful and adult but are not sports focused alone. The run a wide range of topics from politics to current events to local/Minnesota sports.

Overall, there is little coverage of sports outside of Minnesota. Its more local than ESPN but much less so than Craig and Mike.

Please expound. I would rather listen to Paul Allen, Joe Sensor, and the other guy (former punter whose name escapes me right now) than the 3rd or 4th string FOX announcers on TV.

Granted the two games I've listented to on the road were the Cinci and Atlanta embarassments. I'm not a vikes fan, but it was what was on the radio.

I can't stand their game commentary. They are really slow at getting the result of the play out. I hear the whistle before they even start talking about the play. Also the way they describe the play doesn't say much. Example of a play call: Mewelde Moore is blasted at line. They don't mention who or how usually. Also they will drag on the play call and you can't tell how it's going: Moore nailed at the 10, falls to the 5 ball at the 2.

The get too exited over everything too. Expecially when the opponent makes big plays, it's like they are cheering against the vikes.

Maybe others like their style. That's fine, not me.
