Eilers named Academic All-District
South Dakota State University soccer player Maggie Eilers has been selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team.
Eilers, a junior from Brookings, was one of 11 players to be selected to the first team. A nursing major with a 3.95 GPA, Eilers is the first Jackrabbit women's soccer player to earn Academic All-District honors. She will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration later this month. Selections were made by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Eilers, a three-year starting defender for the Jacks, has played in all but one of the team's games during her collegiate career. She has helped anchor a Jackrabbit defense which has surrendered less than two goals per game each of her three seasons.
South Dakota State finished the 2005 season with a 5-12-1 record.
