Garrigues leads the Jacks at Minnesota Invite
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Freshman Mark Garrigues claimed 12th place in the 200-yard individual medley to lead South Dakota State University men's swimming Friday at the Minnesota Invite in Minneapolis, Minn.

Garrigues, a freshman from Yakima, Wash., clocked a time of 1 minute, 56.39 seconds to capture 12th place in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Jackrabbits 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brandon Maydew, Bryce Sinclair, Cade Roberts and Garrigues captured 12th place with a time of 1:29:13. The team of Garrigues, Josh Mueller, Maydew and Justin Manning clocked a time of 3:45.47 in the 400- yard medley relay to finish in 12th place for the event.

South Dakota State will continue competition at the Minnesota Invite tomarrow at the University Aquatic Center.

Swimming competes at Minnesota Invite
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Mallory Onisk set her fifth individual school record of the season as South Dakota State opened competition at the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.

Onisk, a freshman from Bear, Del., shattered her own Jackrabbit school record in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a time of 2 minutes, 11.89 seconds. Onsick's set the previous record of 2:13.31 against North Carolina A&T earlier this year. Maria Pavlicek recorded a time of 2:19.11 in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Jackrabbits broke the 200-yard freestyle relay record twice on Friday. The team of Pavlicek, Hannah Ferree, Onisk and Heather Youngberg clocked a time of 1:42.55 in the preliminary round and then broke the record again with a time of 1:41.66 in the finals. The previous record was 1:43.80.

South Dakota State will continue competition at the Minnesota Invite tomarrow at the University Aquatic Center.
