Pairings announced for Virginia Duals


BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota State University wrestling team will resume action this weekend at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va.

The Jacks are competing in the American College Division and seeded first in the tournament.

SDSU will battle Delaware State in 9 a.m. (8 a.m. Central Time) match Friday at the Hampton Coliseum. Other first round action will begin at 11 a.m. in Virginia, with the consolation round beginning at 1 p.m. See pairings below

The eight-team bracket features: Princeton (N.J.), Franklin & Marshall (Pa.), Duquesne (Pa.), SUNY Brockport (N.Y.), Anderson College (S.C.), Delaware State and Newport News Apprentice School (Va.).

The Jacks, 1-4 on the season, won the American College Division in 2005.

SDSU pins past Delaware State

HAMPTON, Va. — The South Dakota State University wrestling team used four pins Friday morning to shutout Delaware State 44-0 in first round action at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va.  .  .  .

By holding Delaware State scoreless, SDSU recorded their first shutout of an opponent since the 1998-99 season. The Jacks defeated Northern State 46-0. The shutout also marked only the fourth time in the Jason Liles era that the Jackrabbits have held an opponent without a point.

South Dakota State will have the rest of Friday off before taking on Duquesne (Pa.) Saturday afternoon. The match is set for 2 p.m. (ET) at Hampton Coliseum.
