CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Six South Dakota State University riders claimed event titles in Western competition at the two-day Minnesota-Crookston Invitational equestrian meet.

As a team, the Jackrabbits turned in a pair of upper-division finishes in the 10-team meet that featured mostly non-varsity squads. In competition Saturday, SDSU finished in a tie for third place with North Dakota State with 22 points. Nebraska and Minnesota-Crookston shared the team title with 24 points.

On Sunday, the Jackrabbits slipped to fifth place with 15 points. Nebraska again led the way with 33 points, followed by North Dakota State with 26, Wisconsin-River Falls with 21 and Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 20.

Individually on Saturday, Brianna Grohs claimed the reining title and Molly Seidel placed first in advanced horsemanship. Anna Taylor came in second in reining while Abby Knobbe took second in the horsemanship A section and Katie Hendrickson was runner-up in the B section.

Four Jackrabbit riders earned top placings in Sunday's competition, including Jordanne Blair who took first in the open reining B class and placed second as Reserve high-point rider in the Open horsemanship and reining combined competition.

Other SDSU winners were Abby Knobbe in reining section A, Andrea Carstensen in section A of novice horsemanship and Carolyn Wehde in section B of intermediate horsemanship.

The Jackrabbits return to competition Feb. 25 with a meet at Nebraska.
