    Re: Jacks/Bison wrestling

Sounds like it's a little bush league on our part. I don't like the fact that we look like dogs with our tails between our legs. Facility conflicts sounds like a poor excuse. Where's the official response from "our administration".

      Definitely a one sided story.
Why didn't they come down here the first day? I have heard they used two other excuses including "we can't find a bus" before settling on weather as why they didn't come down.
I wonder if they didn't come because they were a little banged up and didn't feel like wrestling that day on an off chance that we would beat them. Now they can seem like we are ducking them. I say good riddance the season is over and we'll see you next year. Let them squeel a little and make some noise in their market.

        Re: Jacks/Bison wrestling

This sounds eerily similar to a story that came out last baseball season where they questioned our desire to play baseball in a snow storm. Their "old school" head coach who "isn't afraid to tell it like it is" Squeeled in their paper that we wouldn't play. No mention of the driving snow storm and conditions that are unsafe to play in.

I think they are showing some of their bravado that made the rivalry between them and Sioux fans so heated.

I still have to think there is a way to reschedule this match. Because we are the underdog it makes us look even more like we are dodging them. With the added barbs being thrown we should be able to get a good turnout and make some money.

            Can someone post the article?

I don't think there will be, nor should there be, an official response from the SDSU administration.  I am sure facilities are booked with intermurals and high school state tournaments, plus finding time for both basketball teams to get their practices in for the end of their seasons.

Intramurals shouldn't take priority over a varsity sport. What about the barn? We've held a dual there before, last year I believe.

How do we not want to wrestle are most recognizable oponnent? Especially at home? As biased as the Forum article is it makes a valid point. What else do these two teams have to do?

My feelings are, They dodged the match on our terms why should we reschedule on theirs. I think its cool that we aren't responding. Lets thumb our nose at em and let them know we aren't going to be pushed around.

                  Re: Jacks/Bison wrestling

I am not saying that intermurals are more important, but they are already scheduled on a limited basis, so there is no reason to limit them further ecause another school decided not to come at their scheduled time. In talking to athletic department personnel, there is very little chance of hosting another event in the Barn. Too many headaches and time involved to use that facility.

                    Re: Jacks/Bison wrestling

I think the scheduling is in regards to the high school district basketball tournaments that begin next week. I took a quick look at the SDHSAA website and it looks like districts are being played at Frost on the 20, 23, 25 with region action to follow. They also have district action scheduled at the Swiftel Center. Boys district action is scheduled for Feb 27, 28, & Mar. 2 w/ region action following. Frost is also hosting the AA girls Mar. 9-11. So maybe the administration's facilities comments are not too far out of line.

Ummmmm..... How does a snowstorm that also saw rain, fog, and 30 mph winds, with visibility less than two-tenths of a mile sound?

Look back at the conditions in Fargo on Feb 10th-http://weather1.herald.com/auto/miam...q_statename=NA

I had to drive back from Wahpeton to Fargo that afternoon- averaged about 25 mph on the ice covered I-29 and lost count of the number of cars in the ditch. Definitely a far cry from the "snowstorm" back in May.

Edit: Here's a write-up on the conditions on Feb 10th in Fargo- http://www.in-forum.com/articles/ind...p;section=News

As snowstorms go, it was mostly a blowing snow event. Travel was a little difficult at times, but not impossible. I also traveled from Wahpeton thru Fargo and on to Valley City that afternoon to deliver 2 high schoolers to a church retreat, then continued on to Jamestown College to pick up my son .... and returned to Wahpeton by 6:45 pm! A 6 hour roundtrip in a Chevy Cavalier, no less.
Travel was possible if you really wanted to go. The Interstate was never closed, and travel got better as you went south.

Are you kidding me? Must we always be so blind? Does it matter that NDSU may have overblown the wheather to protect a beat up squad. Does it matter that there may be facility conflicts? It is nothing but B.S. that this dual is not being wrestled. How can anyone on either squad put up with this? Wrestling is suppossed to be a tough guy sport. Where did those tough guys go?

If they are " so tough" then they would have come in the first place.

PS - I do respect wrestlers for the demands of their sport.

What are we being so blind about? Fact of the matter is they changed the terms of the agreement and we said no thanks.
