Valpo’s Home Opener against IPFW Slated for Wednesday Postponed

Due to frigid temperatures, Valparaiso’s scheduled home baseball opened slated for Wednesday afternoon at Emory G. Bauer Field against IPFW has been postponed.

The two schools have not announced a make up date yet.

Valparaiso (2-8 ) will return to the diamond this weekend for a four-game series against South Dakota State. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon and will mark the Crusaders’ home opener, and will conclude with another twinbill on Sunday at noon. All four games will be broadcast live on www.sportsjuice.com.

The Valpo baseball team is not that bad. They have played some good teams very close. Winning games against Mid Con Teams can only mean good things for the Jacks. Let do it again today. Go State!

The Jacks' home opener is tomorrow vs. UND. With a high of 43 degrees, it's a heat wave! Hope the weather on April 12th cooperates for the U of M game in SF.

The home opener has been moved to Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. They will play a DH with UND. They are going to play 2-7 inning games.

This is great four wins over Valpo. I think we can hope to see some big improvements in the baseball program this year. Now all we need is some great balmy spring weather.

The home opener has been moved to Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. They will play a DH with UND. They are going to play 2-7 inning games.

Should break 50 degrees then, but slight chance of rain. Hope they get these played, as it would be a good chance to continue the streak!

SDSU gets 4-game sweep of Valparaiso
VALPARAISO, Ind. – South Dakota State’s baseball team registered its first four-game series sweep as an NCAA Division I member by taking a doubleheader against Valparaiso on Monday.

The Jacks won the opener 2-0 behind the two-hit pitching of Danny Klous, then took the second game 8-7, scoring twice with two outs in the top of the seventh.

That came after Sunday’s doubleheader sweep against the Mid-Continent Conference team.

SDSU (6-10) will host North Dakota at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Valpo dropped to 2-12.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 28, AUGUSTANA 5 in Conway, Ark. – Central Arkansas scored 14 runs in the second inning to win easily.
