The Jackrabbit volleyball team participated in its first matches of the spring exhibition season on March 25. The Jacks return to Frost Arena on Saturday, April 8, for more exhibition matches.

The SDSU volleyball team began its spring season this past weekend. The Jacks hosted three teams in Frost Arena on March 25, winning two games and losing one. The Jackrabbits defeated a team consisting of SDSU alumni and a team filled with St. Cloud State alumni, but lost two out of three games to the North Dakota State University varsity squad.

This weekend the team travels to Fargo to face NDSU and Moorhead State University. Next weekend, the Jacks play host to a number of schools, including USD, Augustana, Southwest Minnesota State, Northern State, Dakota Wesleyan, University of Minnesota-Crookston and Wayne State (Nebraska).

The Jackrabbits conclude their spring season on April 22 with matches at Augustana.
The volleyball team has been practicing all semester. Individual practices started in January and full-team practices began at the end of February.

All of the matches in the spring are exhibitions and they do not count as far as wins or losses. Head Coach Andrew Palileo said the spring season is used for practice.

"It's a training season," he said. "It is a chance to fine-tune the players you have coming back and figure out where new players fit it."

Palileo said the tournaments are a chance for the younger players to get some game-like experience.
