    Western Illinois (Baseball)

    The Jackrabbits travel to Macomb for a 4 game series starting tomorrow. The Leathernecks won their home opener vs. Illinois College. This marked the first game at newly renovated Alfred D. Boyer Stadium. Prior to this single game WIU took 1 game in a three game series from Michigan State.

    The Jacks, of course, are ridding in on a 6 game winning streak after sweeping both Valpo and UND. This will be the second Mid-Con Conference team that the Rabbits have faced this season, the first being Valpo. First Pitch is set for 3 PM.

      The Jacks are now 9-10 after beating Western Illinois 7-6 on Friday. They got off to a slow start but are in a grrove now and playing with confidence. I look for them to compete for the tourney title of the DI Independent Baseball Tourney in Sioux Falls.
      If you have not seen the Jacks play this year please make a note to do so in the near future. I know being this far north is a disadvantage for us but I believe that the baseball team will compete at the DI level quicker than some of our other sports. The Jacks lost to K State early on 6-5. Then yesterday K State dismantled Nebraska by 9-10 runs. The guys are not going to win every game but they play as if they expect to win every game. That attitude will only help the process. Go State!!

        Jacks drop Saturdays double header and are now 9-12.

        WIU is 8-19.

        One more game against WIU today, before returning home against SW Minn St and Sioux Falls and a good chance to keep the momentum going.

        Nice to see them hitting the groove prior to the U of M game.
