SDSU ranked state's top research institute

in today's Argus:

South Dakota State University has been ranked as the top research institution in the state by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Carnegie's rankings, released this week, reflect the number of doctoral programs, the breadth of institutional research programs, and funding generated in support of research, said Kevin Kephart, SDSU's vice president for research and dean of the graduate school.

Here is the link to the original article from the Chronicle of Higher Education. I think it will only stay active for a few days. You will find SDSU in the Research Universities high research activity category. This is great news from the Carnegie Foundation. They provide the most respected classification of colleges and univeristies. It puts us in the same category as the Universities Oregon, Oklahoma and Alabama, UND and NDSU among others. We are the only South Dakota school in this category.

Simply a sign of progress. We need to continue to advance the academic cause and can utilize the exposure of moving DI athletically as a springboard. Oh wait, we are already doing that.
