Soccer tops Northern State in exhibition
BROOKINGS, S.D. — Natasha Swift netted three goals as South Dakota State closed out its exhibition season Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Northern State at Fishback Soccer Park.
SDSU got on the board first as Swift scored off an assist from Erin Kasmarik. Swift, a freshman from Littleton, Colo., gave SDSU a 2-0 advantage halfway through the first half, scoring off a deflection.
After Northern State came within one, junior Vanessa Paswaters closed out the first half, scoring from 10 yards out.
Swift added a goal late in the contest to give the Jacks the 4-1 victory.
South Dakota State, which will begin play in the United Soccer Conference this fall, is scheduled to open it’s season Aug. 25 against Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Start time for the match against the Panthers is set for 6 p.m.
