    Re: The Facilities Plan

I would hate to see a track around the football field. First of all, we have the room to make track else and second, it would push the stands further way from the field. thats why is so great about Caughlin and friends stadium. The fans are just feet away from the field. like howard wood in SF, your lookin at an extra im guessing 20-25 feet from the stands the the field because of the track. It puts you further away from the game in my opinion.

It would be nice to host a track meet and besides, most SD high schools have better tracks than the one SDSU currently has.
Most high schools have tracks around their football fields. Nothing says bush league then a FCS team having set up like Howard Wood. I have always wondered whey the athletic administration gave up on the old track
I'm guessing that the old track area (which used to be the football field before Coughlin) will host some sort of academic building at some point in the future.

It would be better to build a new track surrounding a new soccer field.  That is what NDSU has.  I believe they used the stands from their old football field for the new track.  Here is a picture.

Edit: It would also be nice if they moved BHS football to this field when a new stadium is built. I don't know how many seats they would need, but I wish they didn't play on the same football field as us.

In the Master Plan there is a new track North of the new softball field. The area for the old track will become an academic space and it sounds like maybe a new ag building.

Im guessing that brookings high school is staying at CFS, they did help to pay for the lights we have.

              Re: The Facilities Plan

I have looked on the South Dakota State athletics website and havent been able to find good pictures of their current athletics facilities. ie. Locker Rooms, Weight rooms, Stadium, maybe a building for awards/hall of fame like some schools have. Would anybody have facility pictures that would be willing to post them on this site or maybe email them to me at justin_andrushko@hotmail.com

Im from Canada and cant exactly just take a short drive to campus to check it out... But I am a Fan of SDSU Football and would like to know a little more about it.

              Thanks

Is there any more talk of making more permanant changes in Frost? Like repairing the steps on the outside going down from the track for allowing to open up the ends?

                    Re: The Facilities Plan

House bill 1063 which is currently passed the house and in the senate is to ask for 653,050 from the state for repair projects. This is actually to ask the state to pay for the bond payment to bond 8 million to do repair projects system wide. This includes a few million at SDSU. The steps on the HPER, elevator in pugsley, and fire alarm system in admin are all apart of the project if the bill passes.

el presidente or anyone with knowledge I have yet to attain. What is they extent of funding from the state of SD? Is it safe for me to assume that the large majority of money is independently raised or earned?

                          Re: The Facilities Plan

for the last few years all building projects on campus have been private or student funded. The only money that the BOR will be giving is for our new science building next year. The state of SD does not give us any money for buildings.

                            Re: The Facilities Plan

If the bill fails it would cost approximately $259 a student to cover the construction outright statewide. To cover the bond payment instead it will be around $13.33 per year or just under $1 per credit. I'm guessing this would come in the form of an increase to the university support fee to pay for the bond payments.

Almost all of our money is privately raised. I don't know specifically but like senator07 said the only state money we are getting is for the new shepard hall.

SDSU students pay into a building fund. That money gets doled back out to all the campuses by the Regents for classroom buildings. The Science Building is being paid for mostly out of that fund, but the university still has to raise the last $6 million.

SDSU has to pay for the last $11 million. The project got moved up to $35 million. We are getting $24 million from the HEF fund from the BOR.
