  • SDSU Pride, paint the town Yellow and Blue

I had read other schools message boards where they talk about showing school pride and what could South Dakota, SDSU and Brookings do to show visitors school pride.  So I ask, “What would like to see done?”

    1. I would like to see SDSU mark sidewalks with SD around campus that lead everyone to the CAF.  I know Florida State has done this.  I believe Clemson University has paws that will lead you to the stadium.

    2. Have the pride march to the stadium before games.  I think it would be cool to have them assembly in Sylvan Green give a short concert. (School songs) and then march to CAF. Marching thru the Backyard 30 minutes before kickoff (tailgating ends) and have the crowd follow them into the stadium.

    3. Fly SDSU flags all over SDSU.  I would really like to see additional flag poles around campus with State of SD flag, SDSU flag, American Flag outside the HPER, The Library, The Union, maybe some additional places.  Also fly them allow Brookings and South Dakota

    4. I would like the business community to paint murals showing SDSU pride on blank sides of buildings.  Do the same for windows (not just during Hobo Week).

    5. Paint the Water tower closet to campus (6th street) and the one at Larson's Park.  SDSU colors or at least put SDSU or South Dakota State University on them.  I think it would be cool. Heck maybe paint all of them.

    6. Add billboards on all interstates and major highway that read "South Dakota State University and Jackrabbit Nation"

    7. A giant American Flag (at least bigger than the current flag) at CAF. Not really SDSU pride but National pride.  Sorry couldn’t resist.

    8. Fans all the SDSU fans were yellow and blue to games. SCHOOL PRIDE

Let's come up some great ideas.

I've always liked the idea of painting the watertower with SDSU colors and logo.  I went to the UNI football game last year and they have their tower painted with the new UNI logo and it looks great and very classy.
I'm assuming it would be up to the city of Brookings.

UND has their water tower near campus painted with logo. Nebraska band marches through campus to Memorial stadium.

Tennessee's band marches across campus as well--it is a very, very cool thing.

I also like the flags idea, and painting logos (where is that new logo, anyway?) on the sidewalks (or roads!) leading to the sports venues.

Been there many times for the Marching Cornhuskers march through campus and OUR BAND KICKS THEIR COLLECTIVE A###S!!!!!

A march across campus would be a very cool thing! It would be a tough thing to pull off with the limited number of ways to get to CAS!

Most D-1 schools get the entire town behind the spirit of game day and it's probably time we all get going on that as well! The atmosphere is created by each one of us and you can count me in!!!!!

Go Jacks!!! Less than thirty days until the season starts!

I've watched Minnesota's band march to the 'Dome...on a hot afternoon, they're a little tired by the time they make it to the game.

I would pledge some funds towards painting the Brookings water tower blue and yellow with the proper insignia. It would also be great if 3M, Dak, and other companies would fly and SDSU flag along side the stars and stripes.

Another thing I think would be fun would a totally pimped out tailgate mobile. I like the bus "the Command Center?" It would really be sweet if it had a nice decals and a yellow and blue paint job. Maybe some day I can purchase something and make it fun.

I would really like to see the old Sexauer Building on Main get decorated, too.
