  • Yankton Jackrabbit Club Fall Social

The YJC annual fall social is this Wednesday, August 7th at 6 pm Riverside Park in Yankton, SD.

All food will be provided, BYOB. Primarily a chance to gather for fellowship with Jackrabbit friends, family and fans. We will also discuss the accomplishments of the club this year and plans for the coming year. There will be some Jackrabbit give away items and also an auction for a tailgate spot parking pass.

Football season will soon be here and we will be making plans for the tailgate lot. We will have our same tailgate area and the YJC will also be sponsoring one of the alumni backyard gatherings this fall at CAS.

If you or friends are in the Yankton area this Wednesday stop down at Riverside Park. We will be easy to find, just look for the signs, the Jackrabbit flags and everyone in yellow and blue.

Not so far. We have preferred to remain independent to this point. We charge informal dues for those that want to tailgate. Our big fundraiser is the annual golf tournament at Hillcrest. It has allowed us to endow a scholarship fund at $20,000 and commit $25,000 to the indoor facility. It also covers expenses for social events. We like have local control and I think it will remain this way as long as people are willing to volunteer their time and energy.

The key is to keep getting new young blood involved. Some of us grow weary and old and loss interest, but you seem to have all the shakers and movers in Yankton interested and that will work. Bob Karlevitz would be very proud of what you have accompolished so far.

Lots of people very interested in SDSU and the Jackrabbits. Many willing to donate time, money and effort for the cause. Tonight we will have pork loin and buns courtesy of the SD pork council, sweet corn from the Bye family and many salads and deserts from local Jackrabbit chefs. Rough head count is at about 80 attendees of all ages right now.
