  • Some "Year in Review" Stats

SDSU has about 470 student athletes.

By my count, over 180 of them participated in their sport's national tournament.

(90+ in football, 15 in MBB, 13 in WBB, 40+ in equestrian, 30+ in baseball). That's almost 40% of the athletic department.

160 Academic All-League winners in winter and spring sports, 56 in fall sports.

11 All-Academic Team winners in the MVFC.

12 Coaches' Honor Roll winners in the WWC

That's 239 academic award winners, or over half the athletic department. And that doesn't include equestrian--which has no academic recognition program.

And the Summit all-sports trophy for the second time in three years.

Going D1 appears to be more a positive than ever. What would the numbers be had we stayed in the D2 category?

57 football players (well over half) recorded a 3.0 or better GPA and were named to the MVFC honor roll.
22 football players recorded a 3.2 or better GPA and received the Commissioner's Award for Academic Excellence.

In all sports except Equestrian, SDSU had 202 student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or better. That's 202 out of about 420 total.
