    Mascot Jack Rabbit

    Needs more uniforms.

    Should the Student Associate buy?

    This seems to be a good opportunity for a clothing design student to get a project and alumni to fund.

    Jack is unique, but having more than one Jack, especially with the upcoming mirror scheduling in basketball would be a good choice.

    Back in the 70's they rotated who got to be Jack at football games. I got the opportunity to wear it the first game of the year one season which was an afternoon game against NDSU. It was 90 degrees that day. I had a t-shirt and gym shorts on underneath. By half time I was completely drenched in sweat and so was the inside of "Jack". I turned the suit in after the game. I dont know if they regularily dry cleaned that thing but it was wicked inside it after that afternoon. I suggest multiple Jacks with VERY breathable material!

      The current Jack uniform smells so bad that it is nearly unbearable. Definitely need new costumes/uniforms.

        Its wicked bad, no amount of febreeze will fix that.

          They need to hire that guy from a few years ago who was the mascot. The one who had wheels and raced everywhere it seemed. like the guy who ran faster and jumped higher then the football team during intro and celebrations. For some reason that Jack stood out to me.

          But having 2 is probably a good Idea, I think one should be male and one female. then they can both be at say football games and can be politically correct for those that are concerned about it.

            Jackie Rabbit - Female

            Seems like a good idea. Getting 15 years out of one uniform seems like a long time between costume changes.

              I agree that the Jack from a couple of years ago was awesome. I think his name was Nolan and he worked briefly in admissions at SDSU following his graduation. He knew me and my family as he had seen our faces many times before from inside the mascots head. We had never seen his face before. He had the right amount of showmanship and enthusiasm that made the crowd appreciate his work.

                I'm friends with his brother-in-law, he had to win a foot race to get the job....he went into retirement for a few games and they asked him back because everybody loved his speed and enthusiasm. He did do a really good job.

                  I know one person who was the mascot long ago and she said the costume needed laundry or dry cleaning real bad. Hopefully they found the funds to do laundry on a regular basis.

                    These complaints need to go to Justin Sell and BE CC'ed to Swanson. It will be up to Swanson to follow through. I cannot say anything more about this.
