Re: SDSU switches to Under Armour
They are taking the NFL's uniforms over. (The rumor is that a fair amount of jerseys will get switched up.)
I'm not sure if they are purposely shifting away from small colleges but that's sort of the product of dedicating your services to the NFL.

Re: SDSU switches to Under Armour
I guess I am not into flavor of the month kind or looks. I perfer the time tested. I guess the more traditional and simplier the better. A claiss uniform never goes out of style. Alabama football or duke or unc basketball. Maryland and oregon football unis stink imo."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

Originally posted by witness View PostThe reason the Alabama or Penn State football, duke or UNC basketball uniforms work is because of the tradition and history behind them. If there was no long history ala Oregon or Maryland those classic uniforms would not work. When their isn't a long history classic uniforms would not work for them. Also, Oregons uniforms put them on the mat and now thy are becoming a well known football program. Duke also came out with new grey uniforms that were interesting so they have had more than just classic uniforms. I love the trendy uniforms and hope more teams switch to that.
Oh and the baylor uni's looked like construction worker neon yellow. Just needed some silver reflective tape and shovels."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

Re: SDSU switches to Under Armour
I'm excited for the new agreement. Under Armour seems to be a really progressive company and have been selective on who they sign to be their schools. That bodes well for SDSU. I'm all for traditional unis most of the time but it never hurts to mix it up a little bit. It all depends on the agreement. I very highly doubt that you are going to see something like what Maryland did with their football unise for two reasons. 1. That just isn't SDSU. 2. Those unis cost serious $$$$. Unless UA is footing all of that cost then there isn't reason to do it. We have much more pressing needs.
Bottom line is that the agreement with UA must be beneficial to the school or they would have looked elsewhere. If we get their great gear and a deal that helps fund our program then its a win-win deal.

From an equipment perspective I hope they have shoes figured out by now. We have seen what can happen when shoes just don't work for a team (see SDSU women in 1st year of Nike deal)."The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all."

Re: SDSU switches to Under Armour
Under Armour will do what the school/team wants. Look at Auburn as an example. Very standard for both football and basketball. South Carolina and Texas Tech are both on board with them too and their uniforms are pretty straight forward. Northwestern recently signed with UA, as well and I have to think they'll continue to ride the traditional route.
Stig says that the uniforms in 2011 were up to the players but I don't think the players will be wearing uniforms that look like SDSU's yellow and blue checkerboard endzones.
