  • For What It's Worth

Not sure this is a relevant topic for this particular thread but it's interesting information in my opinion so I'm posting it here.

There was a fund raising event in Gayville, SD for the volunteer fire department. They had various auction items. The SDSU jersey donated by the athletic department went for $1200. A package of jerseys, tickets and other merchandise from USD went for $300. Gayville is 110 miles from Brookings and 10 miles from Vermillion via a major 4 lane highway.

Another point, if people are willing to give $1200 for a jersey in order to support a local cause there has to be more opportunity out there to increase support in the Jackrabbit Club. A drive to increase membership is under way. If you want to help contact Alex Kringen one of our associate AD's.

    I approve this message.

I thought I could elaborate a little more on this. Does anyone think that SDSU will see another spike in donors in the next 5-10 years once the first Div-1 students get through? For instance, I'm in graduate school right now. No income at this time and I'm living off loans. I have no opportunity to give back to SDSU at this time because I'm basically handing them my loan money. Doesn't make much sense does it? But when I'm done and graduated I'll have income to donate and join the Jackrabbit Club, season tickets, etc. Just my thoughts in that I bet they see a little bump in the next few years once the first Div-1 students get through and get situated with their jobs, etc.
