Top 10 wrestler in the country. Would be very surprised if Rhodes is left out.

Pretty awesome showing for the Jacks today. Excited to see all 10 in Philly!

Assuming Jordan and Rhodes get at large spots, will this be the first time that the Jacks send all 10?

That’d be 9. Avery Allen didn’t qualify at 149. One win short.

Avery qualified. 6 spots and he finished in 6th.

I came to the same conclusion that you did DR

the conference was allotted 6 auto bids and he finished in 6th, but I have not seen anyone anywhere listing him as a qualifier for nationals

149 had 4 autos. 2 wrestlers who helped earn 2 of those 6 spots didn’t wrestle in the tournament, so that dropped 149 to 4 aq’s.

Did not realize the allocations changed with the ASU and OKS lineup changes. Thanks for the clarification.

                thanks for the info!!

bummer for Allen. I thought he really wrestled his tail off the whole tournament!! it could be argued that he gave Johnson his toughest match of the tourney. I am not saying that is true or correct!! but it could be argued

I did feel that outside of Berge, Glazier, and Rasmussen the team performance on Sunday was disappointing. maybe I dont know what I am talking about? but I thought everyone else lost matches that they VERY VERY realistically were expected to win. some of them lost badly. but there could also be information that i am not aware of?? injuries, etc...

IF he gets a bid? will Rhodes be ready for next week. I guess that will be part of the process of deciding to offer him a spot or not. they wont want to give a spot to someone who is going to be too far from his best, instead of giving it to a healthy wrestler

any other injury issues heading into Nationals? what are the chances to match or top the number of AAs from last year?

regardless of my thoughts about Sunday, finishing 3rd at the Big 12 championship is nothing to feel bad about!! CONGRATULATIONS to the wrestlers and coaches!!

Tanner ran into a pist off Figueroa, who came into the season ranked #1 in the country but early injuries got the best of him. He was handling the 7th place match until getting caught at the last second. Needs to find what he had at last years NCAAs again this year.

Derrick Cardinal was having a great tournament until what appeared to be a shoulder injury. He gave the would be champ, Serrano, arguably his closest match of the tournament.

Julian Tagg had a great tournament. 1 point loss to Alirez and 5th place finish coming in as the 8th seed. He has a few big wins on the year and excited to see who he can upset in Philly.

After a Rd 1 1-2 loss to the eventual champ, Paniro Johnson, Avery Allen went on to beat the 8 and 4 seeds to finish 6th. Would have been an auto spot but a couple late changes from ASU and OKSt dropped the allocations. Outside chance of an at large bid.

Cobe Siebrecht lost a close match to Chittum in their match in Feb, so the major here was a big win for him. The loss in finals was disappointing after not allowing a takedown from Zerban in their dual match in Feb.

Rumor was that Rhodes was in good spirits in the stands on Sunday. Being that he is the second highest RPI ranked wrestler that did not auto qualify, would guess he will get a bid. Lets hope that he can go in Philly.

Don't think we have seen the best Devos we will see this season. Hopefully he breaks out for the year in Philly

Berge had a good weekend. Hopefully gets another shot at Plott in Philly and can get over that hump.

Glazier wrestled a close match with Surber and went on the get 3rd.197 is a deep class. Hopefully Zach can get a favorable seed and make a run in Philly.

Rasmussen!! After getting his tailed whipped by Schultz, he went on to avenge earlier in the season losses. He majored the 3 seed, Runyon (2-7 loss to earlier in the season), beat Mora (3-10 loss in Daktronics invite finals), and a decision over Wyoming to finish in 3rd. Great finish for Rasmussen after 2 disappointing losses in last 2 duals to end regular season.

Overall auto qualifying 7 with a good chance at 2 at large spots and a prayer at Avery Allen getting in, is a good result.

I think 4 AAs would be a really good result. I think we will end up with 3.

to be clear, I was NOT trying to rip on anyone!! wrestling is so tough and very often the difference between a great win and a horrible loss is tiny tiny TINY!!!

I am not going back to look to be sure but I think Jordan had 5 matches? won 2 by pin, lost 2 by pin and lost another my MD. that is a CRAZY collection of outcomes!!! the huge majority of matches end up with a simple decision and he did not have one (at least if i am remembering correctly)

and I take NOTHING from him for the loss to Figuerora or really any of the losses, but I think i was not being unfair to call the loss for 7th disappointing, not to mention losing it on a last second pin

I agree about Cardinal and again the end is disappointing. obviously he cannot help getting injured. hopefully he, like Rhodes, will be ok for Nationals!! big big bummer if they are unable to go

and Siebrecht had to be considered the favorite to win his finals match, but again, I understand this sport is tough and tough to predict. there are a very small number of DUDES who are very nearly unbeatable and everyone else is going to get a bad surprise from time to time

Allen had a great weekend!! the ONE disappointment was in the consolation semis match. the way he was wrestling it seemed he had a great shot to get in the 3rd place match. that said, I am not familiar at all with that wrestler and maybe he is much better than his lack of ranking would suggest!! but Allen did wrestle tougher against multiple better wrestlers on the weekend. bad spot to have probably his worst match of the weekend

Berge had a great weekend PERIOD, but I DO believe he can beat Plott. he had him beat last year and let him slip away. KUDOS to Glazier for coming back from what had to be a very frustrating loss to Surber and taking care of business!! Rasmussen had to be in the discussion for biggest highlight of the entire tourney!! the loss to Schultz was tough for sure. Schultz made it VERY clear that the stuff Rasmussen normally does was NOT gonna work on him, but Ras responded by wrestling awesome the rest of the weekend!!

Another perspective. Only Jordan and Rhodes finish below their seed.

Jordan - finished 3 below seed

                      Cardinal - 2 above seed

                      Tagg - 3 above seed

Allen - unseeded 3 above seed

Siebrecht - at least 2 above seed

Rhodes - injured was seeded 4th

                      DeVos - at seed

                      Berge - at seed

                      Glazier - 1 above seed

                      Rasmussen - 4 above seed
