That's painful. It's amazing how much one bad tournament define a season or even a career. They had such a good regular season but, if they don't have a good showing at nationals, people aren't going to look at this year as a success.

That is the most painful thing about sports, if you don’t get it done at the end it is considered a failure. Brackets come out at 5pm central

Yeah that is the trouble with our current system, one bad day shouldn’t decide if you go to the national tournament or not, especially in an individual sport. I personally would like to see it similar to how basketball does it (that was painful to type, jk basketball fans). Conference champions are in, everyone else waits till after to see if they are in. And don’t put out the criteria used to pick them. That way coaches and athletes can’t figure out how to game the system. This accomplishes two things: 1. Eliminates the ability to MFF without risk, now granted with some guys it doesn’t really matter what they do at the conference tournament. 2. Makes the whole season matter, we should not have guys at the national tournament with a 3-11 record, unless those 3 wins all came at a conference tournament to win it.
