  • NDSU Dual

This is probably something worth breaking down. Here are my predictions for the meet.

    125: Jordan dec. Rodriquez 3-0
133: Tagg dec. March 6-0 (This one could go either way)
141: Carlson dec. Droegemueller 9-0 (Carlson is eight points better, but he's yet to beat him by eight)
    149: Sax dec. Kimball 9-3
    157: Franek maj O'Neil 9-7
165: Weber dec. Cook 9-10 (A Cook pin is always a possibility)
    174: DeVos dec. Brenner 12-10
184: Parker dec. King 12-13 (This is another toss up, I'd love to see King get some redemption here)
    197. Sloan dec. Pentz 15-13 (Pentz is a very dangerous wrestler and there is a chance that he could get a flukey pin)
285: Nevills dec. Metz 18-13 (I think that Metz might be the better wrestler, but he's been out for a long time with injury. I think he either sits or Nevills get a somewhat diminished version of him.)

This is going to be a very good match. I think that SDSU is the better team, but NDSU matches up really well. It could all come down to the health of Brandon Metz. It's been great to watch these two teams grow together.

Also of note; these are the wrestlers that SDSU listed on social media as being celebrated during the dual for senior night:

Hunter Marko: No longer on the roster.
Rylee Molitor: No longer on the roster
    Kenny O'Neil: 4th year sophomore
    Greg Coapstick: Actual graduating senior

They did take this post down, so there's a pretty significant chance that this is completely wrong, but It's surprising to see O'Neil listed here and also to not see Nevills listed. It would be great to have Nevills back next year, we could really use him and he does have another year of eligibility.

Where is Kenny O'Neil going? Grad transfer maybe? Wonder what this means for Tanner Cook since he wants to go down to 157. Not surprised Nevills isn't being celebrated because when he transfered here, it was for 2 years. Marko doesn't have any more years of eligibility but Rylee has one left. Rylee must be done.

I believe Marko is finished and has moved on since his quest to compete at 133 wasn't what he thought it would be. Molitor has graduated and moved back home. O'Neil will be graduating in May and has decided to conclude his career at the end of the season. Coapstick will complete his academic/competitive career at the end of the season. Nevills will return for his final year 22-23.

Correct me if I am wrong.

If you are season ticket holder they are offering us 4 free additional general admission tickets, check your email. Great way to get some people exposed to wrestling that maybe have never been to a dual. Let’s pack the place and get the bell back in Brookings.

What a start to this one! Four straight for SDSU to open with an unexpected bonus point at 125. Then a last second win by Kimball. God it’s fun watching NDSU get beat by the Jacks!

Did anyone see if Metz was announced as a starter?

Considering where each team was coming in, that was perhaps the worst SDSU beat down of NDSU I have seen in any sport. It was a good day.

I think every Jackrabbit wrestler did about three points better than they were supposed to today. They are wrestling really well right now. I just hope that they can stay at this level for the next month. I do worry about peaking too early.

That was awesome, just an absolute beating. Wombat try to contain your negativity and let us just bask in the a** whooping we got to witness.
