Ill bet five years ago wasnt much different than the 300 you describe.
You are correct, we did not have a good product back then. Enter Bono and we are wrestling the No 3 team in wrestling at home. Some of Warren Williamsen's teams were pretty good, but never drew much of a crowd.
I was at the dual. The final score doesn't show just how close the dual actually was. Was only 2 bad matches and 3-4 matches SDSU lost by 2-3 points. They will be much improved by March. Bono has something incredible going on right now

When SDSU had 1800 to watch SDSU beat Iowa state, I told my dad that that dual changed a lot. Great crowd, great atmosphere for that dual against a high level opponent made people that missed to dual to go to the next one and people that went to the dual to go again.

Friday night was pretty exciting for the program. I was shocked at the turnout. It was a huge win for the program before any wrestling began. This should help recruiting and the program a ton. Hopefully, the fans enjoyed the dual.
I know Bono was disappointed with the dual results. I agree that some of the guys need to find a way to win in the third versus let it slip away. Hopefully they will grow from this, it is early in the season.
Just a very late comment or two. First, thanks to JackJD for providing a good run down for fans who were not there. I can't sit still long enough to text...so hats off to him. When told we might have 4,000, I thought, oh yeah, I'll be happy with 2,500. Boy, was I wrong. Awesome! As to where we are at, and how the match went...Bono and his coaches are winners, period. They want their guys to be winners...period. And while we are pretty darn good, and getting better all the time, it is pretty easy to understand that those close matches went to the team that is used to winning them. We are VERY close!
