Re: New wrestlers
Sounds like a great recruit.
GoJacks.com is in dire need of a copy editor. The story says Prieto was a four-time state champ. He won at 103 his freshman year and at 113 his sophomore year. As a junior, he won the 126 title. He won his fourth title as a senior wrestling at 138. Can anyone explain the following sentence which is sandwiched in between the report of his winning a state title as a sophomore and state title as a junior: "Following his sophomore season, Prieto competed in the 113-pound weight class and turned in a third-place finish."

It shows here he placed third at the Rocky Mt Nationals after his Sophomore HS season at 113 lbs.

Re: New wrestlers
Because it seems like our big classes of wrestlers only yield 2-3 guys who end up sticking and contributing, I don't get too excited about the big names/resumes that we bring in. Give them a redshirt year with Bono and see who survives.Jackrabbits: Long ears, strong hind legs, gritty, relentless, fearless.

I saw this posting on the Bisonville website. It was interesting look at drop out rates. The bold print stayed - the others left. I'm cutting and pasting now....
"Perhaps I am reading your post wrong but to me this implies that you think NDSU has an issue with retention of wrestlers. Your post got me thinking so I went back starting from the 2011-12 Rosters of both NDSU and the UM to see how the Roster Turnover compares between the two schools year over year. All I simply did was to look at a Roster of one year and compare it to the following year's roster to see who was retained and who had left the respective program.

With the exception of the last year listed the schools are relatively close in the their turnover rates of Underclassman. I did not take into consideration (with the exception of Matt Gray) as to why any given wrestler left a particular school. I tried to find some data as to the average roster turnover for any school at any level but I could not find anything. I did take a straw pole of a few college coaches that I know and it seems that they're average number of underclassman to leave any given program each year seems to be around the 8-10 range."
