We sat just down and to the left of Nicky Lograsso (the Jacks' goalie last year, and for the previous two as well, IIRC) at a basketball game shortly after the season was over and I really felt bad for her--she looked like she had all the mobility of a turtle, getting up to the bleachers--we're talking wincing in pain and having to almost crawl up to her seat.
Is soccer worse than many other sports, or just with pre-existing conditions?

it can be quite physical for all players...especially for the goalie...they play with a metal post on each side them.

Well, during the season they play at least two 90 minute games per week. It has the potential to be pretty hard on the joints.

BTW: Lang Wedemeyer ought to be a shoo-in for coach of the year. Graduated 8 seniors and actually moved up a spot in the final standings.

Win two this weekend and off to the NCAA's again

One thing in the article is a little off....

"Despite graduating nine seniors from the 2008 squad, Lang Wedemeyer's team is back in the race for the College Cup. The young Jackrabbits boast 13 underclassman that have played in 10 or more games this season and account for 16 of the teams 27 goals and 18 of the 25 assists."

while losing 9 seniors last year...this years team has 2.....Pappas and Heine...who have played very well.....but goalies and defenders don't score much...

Underclassmen have accounted for all the goals and assists.

I don't believe juniors are considered underclassmen...thus the article is likely correct. The seniors probably haven't scored any goals or gotten any assists, but some of the juniors on the team likely have.

Hope we can keep him around. Make it to the tournament two years in a row and the BCS schools that are struggling may take notice and open their wallets.
