    Re: 2008 Soccer Season Thread

Football or soccer game? Would love to make the soccer but covering SDSU volleyball for a local paper. Maybe, definately looking at making the football game as press of course.

Well the women's soccer team has a chance to sweep Iowa this year with a win over UNI. SDSU has already beat University of Iowa, Drake and Iowa State. That would be a huge accomplishment and a good indicator of how good this team really is.

      Go Jacks!!!
      Go State!!!

Great to hear the Jacks beat ISU!!!! I was a little down after watching the game against Eastern Washington, and particularly the finish. Couldn't make Sunday's game, so great to hear we beat those Cyclones!

The Jacks in my opinion played some of their best offensive games this weekend. Jacks named to the all tournament team were: Steph Peterson, Vanessa Paswaters, Erin Kasmarik, Kelsey Ferguson. Kellyn Farrell had a great tourney even though she didn't score, she had 12 shots. The Jacks are back to .500 on the year and look to get another win before going into conference play would be big. Comparing the other teams in the league at this point might be irrelevant, after seeing NDSU play and keeping tabs on the other teams the Jacks may be the cream of the crop this year.

Jacks defeat UNI 4-1 to take the Iowa Cup. Kellyn Farrell, Erin Kasmarik, Danni Healy and Kayla Braffet all score for the 4-3 Jacks.

The Jacks have lost senior defender Alex Schaller with a knee injury in the Northern Iowa game. As of right now the team isn't sure what it is. The Jacks will miss Alex's hard play, tackles, and corner kicks. I believe she can't get a redshirt as she has played too much. The Jacks are gonna miss her and I'm going to miss her tough play on the field.

The Jacks won at IPFW 1-0 today. Erin Kasmarik scored on a header off a cross from Vanessa Paswaters.
Jacks are 6-3 on the season, and 2-0 in Summit play. The Jacks host the Western Illinois Westerwinds (4-2-2) Friday at 6 p.m. at the Fishback Soccer Park. Come out to watch some Jackrabbit soccer on Hobo Day weekend, you won't be dissappointed.

Congratulations to the Jacks for their great start in the Summit League race!! Winning two on the road, regardless of the level of the teams played is great!

What's WIU's Summit standings? As I remember, they were a top pick. (Can't go to Summit League from office)

The Westerwinds sit at 4-3-2 on the season, they are 0-1 in Summit League play losing to Southern Utah. Western is 2-3-1 on the road this year. Southern Utah who comes in Sunday is 3-5 on the season, 1-0 in Summit play. They are also 0-2 on the road this year. The Jacks are playing like a potential conference champion so far this year. Western was picked to finish second in the conference with the Jacks pegged for third.

1-0 is your halftime score. Jacks are really agressive tonight.
