    Re: Pre-Season WNIT

jackdaniel brings up a great point which is our depth possibly being a difference against Hampton. Looking at Hampton's boxscore they only had 6 players play double digit minutes and those six played most of the game.

    http://www.hamptonpirates.com/custom...ats/hamw01.htm

Coaches tend to play more players earlier in the season than later and they stuck to mostly 6. Our depth will be huge in a game like this. AJ is not afraid to go to the bench at any time. They may have very good athletes but they are going to get beat up with fresh bodies (and strong) throughout the game.

Getting Perry & Jenkins sitting on the bench more because they need a rest, sure wouldn't hurt.Perry especially you don't want on the court for 35 min.
Someone like Luper, seems you can't get her tired, but Perry, don't really know what she can take.
Jenkins only got two min rest, that's not a whole lot,but Perry got 5 min, that seems enough....maybe barking up the wrong tree here,as i assume the pace was pretty good since it was a close game through out the contest against JMU .

Maybe a better way to get her used a lot(thus tired & in need of rest),is to simply be ahead in the score, all the time, where they really can't afford to send her to the bench for rest. The more key(or hot) players, for the opposition that sit on the bench ,the better for us scoring points, and it hurts them for scoring points.
When the other teams best scorers are on the bench, thats when "our" players have to go to work & build a cushion, like wise ,when your best scorers are on the bench, time to send in your best defenders to keep that from happening to you.
Too many twists & turns in coaching. It must really be a hard job.My hats off to AJ for the great job he does.

They only have three girls over 6' it seems from thier roster but probably some very quick under 6'.

Nothing unusual for a Women's Jackrabbit team,

but I couldn't help but think last night it has to just about knock the wind out of you when you are an opposing team, look over see 4 or 5 new Jackrabbits waiting at the scores bench to come in the game, and know that there is not going to be a let down in talent but rather just fresh legs and a drive to get out there and play.

One thing that helps the Jacks. They didn't have to go from James Madison back to Hampton and now have to fly to Brookings. More practice, more rest, no travel.

That was fun to watch. Looked much better than in the two preseason games. The key to the game was getting the ball inside. However, you shoot lights out from the 3pt line -- and that makes you hard to beat also.

Tomorrow nights game will be a lot more physical. I agree with previous posts that we need to box out better - and rotate quicker on defense. We need to play team basketball -- on offense and defense. This team is a work in progress -- I expect good things from them!!

Down to the Final 4 -

                    SDSU (Summit)
                    Purdue (Big 10)
                    Florida (SEC)
                    DePaul (Big East)

The non-BCS teams have a poor track record of winning or even making the finals. Hope the Jacks can become the first team since La Tech won back in 2000 to be the non-BCS winner of the tourney. Many years this tourney has had 3-4 top ten rated teams in it, but not this year. This is exactly the type of challenge and atmosphere for the Jacks to get into the season.

So Thurs, at 7 PM ET (6 Central) - Jacks at Purdue. I would expect that there will be on-line viewing via Jackrabbit Extra?

So, does SDSU play Purdue Wednesday night at 7:00 pm eastern as the front-page schedule gojacks.com says, or Thursday night at 7:00 pm? Pretty sure I know what night it really is, but the casual observer might not.

                      Go Jacks!!

Last night TV and Tyler said 6 pm CT on Thursday. Now I'm confused.

Any chance this game will be on the Big Ten Network or anywhere else?

Also, any chance the final could be back in Frost?

With 1300 people in attendance for the 1st two games, my guess is slim-to-none.
I guess I'm just a bit miffed if there really was only 1300 fans in attendance. I actually had courtside tickets given to me that I had to give away. But...at least I gave them away. It' really frustrating to see, especially the season-ticket holder side of Frost always about half(at best)full.
I guess this women's team just hasn't done enough to justify a decent crowd in a major pre-season tournament.

If you have season tickets...give the damn things away or sell them if you know you're never going to go. I know it does't produce anymore $$ for the Dept. but that's really not the point IMO...giving this teams an atmosphere that they deserve is my point.
If I was the WNIT I wouldn't give us the championship game...we as fans don't deserve it if there was really only 1300 fans that came out last night...IMO.

I had to be out of town so that is disappointing to hear that's all that saw a great game. Mondays are tough and Hampton doesn't carry the cache that Purdue does. Hampton is a good team just not a household name.

They put the Iowa vs. SDSU game on there. Didn't look like much of a crowd there either. My thinking was just that this is a semi-final in the tournament which might add some interest.
