  • Pre-Season WNIT

I just read that the Jacks host Utah Valley in the 1st round on Nov. 12th @ 7PM. I know this is a new year but USD beat Utah Valley by 9 and 29 points last season. I guess they host again if they win or lose that game. Utah Valley won the Great West postseason title but their overall record was 10-22.

Basically, we're all invited to a basketball clinic Nov. 12.

JMU would be a great second round opponent. They are always a very good mid-major team. Return two top scoring guards in Evans (20 plus points per game) and Hislop.

Jacks will be in a good bidding war with JMU to host the 2nd round, and if don't play Purdue (#4 attendence WBB in NCAA) then a bidding war with Toledo is possible. Mo. St. is the leading attendence queen on the other side of the bracket.

Jacks should blow through UVU, although the Wolverines used to give Jacks a good game, especially at UVU.

JMU is a good match up in the 2nd round.

Reading through the bios of the 16 teams, Charlotte and JMU appear to have the best records, and returning teams.

SDSU has a REALLY good chance to win this.

If they do, look for the Jacks in the top 25 in Nov.

We are already set to host a game(s) in round two.

This tournement will be a very good experience for the team.Hopefully,we can use it as a springboard to launch into the 2010-11 season.

Here's my take on JMU.Everything hinges on Evans. Not because one player wins or loses a game, but because when she shoots good, they usually win, because, it gives the other players more confidence ,& therefore, they usually shoot better also.
Looked at stats of a few games,Evans when she's hot,can hit up to 50% of her shots. When she's cold, she 's shot 25% or so,(she still takes the majority of the shots anyway, hence a poor shooting %).I only took a short sample of thier games.
Expect Taylor to get a lot of boards, which somewhat offsets a poor shooting night from Evans.Top 3 pt shooter on the season is Evans at 33.9%.
Top 2 pt scorers (by FG%,who play a lot) are Newman (21.8 min per game)Taylor(22.6 min pg),Jimenez,Hilsop, then Evans(season FG % was 37.9%). They,ve been playing together for awhile, so expect a tough game.
Maybe it'll turn out like Middle Tenn State U. of last year with thier prolific scorer Alysha (sp?) Clark.Let's hope so.
Sarah Williams 3 pt. threat(sometimes??)Remember, these are last years stat's , so they may or may not mean a thing this comming season.

FWIW, Utah Valley dropped both of their exhibition games this pre-season...at home...both to DII teams.

It's killing me that I'm going to miss the home opener...but I had to make an executive decision to head to Verm-town to watch the Quarriers. I would be greatful if someone would post updates on a GDT!

So...I'm getting conflicting info on the 2nd game(if there is one). I first heard it would be Monday night, but then this morning someone told me he was told it was Sunday night.

                            Anyone know for sure???

To me,the game against UVU is probably the most important game we'll play in the tournement. We will be favored probably, but i think it should be more than that.I think it should be a statement game, "here we come and this is what we're bringing"This is the game where we set the tone for the rest of the games in the tournement.Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on this first game, but if we don't come out with fire & a killer instinct, but instead just do enough to win & no more,i'll be a little worried.A team that fights hard for each other & shows a little emotion ,is a tough, tough team to beat. This is SDSU,& this is who we are......Go JACKS.....second thought, maybe we could save a little of that for JMU,& the rest
