    Re: 2010-2011 Schedule

Last year, during roughly the same time period,we went 1-3 in our OOC schedule, winning against Gonzaga,& losing to Az St,Ill St,& W. Ky.We had a lot of young players last year,& as good as our seniors were,(they were very good),it wasn't quite good enough to compensate for the younger players going through the transition to Div 1 college basketball.I don't think we will experience that quite as bad this year ,because most of the roster will have experience this year, that should equate to comming out of the gate in the early season a lot more confident in being able to defeat anyone they step out on the court with.I think we'll have another good season next year.We have three very good recruits that will contribute to the program in a big way before thier time at SDSU is done.We also have very good senior ,junior,& sophmores to provide the leadership.I think we'll win at least two of our three gauranteed games in the pre-season NIT,with a strong possibility of winning more, with this list of teams in the tournement, even though they are all good teams.Hopefully, I'm right.

This could be the break-out tourney for WBB, especially if win the championship of this pre-season tourney. I'll note that Ohio St won last year, and they did well in Big 10, then tourney SEEDING. A return to a 3-6 seeding could bode well for this team. Hope Jill returns to frosh form, and that our bigs come in ready to pound the boards. Marcie and Kristen and Schutt should provide good senior leadership.

        Re: 2010-2011 Schedule

I think it will be very challenging in the preseason WNIT because 7 of the 16 won their respective conference tournaments this past year, and there are 3 major conference schools (Florida, Purdue, and DePaul) in the field of 16.

No doubt we will know right away where we are at.

I agree that I don't think we'll struggle out of the gate this year but I think it will be because the players coming in are slightly better than last years crew.
Leah was supposed to be the gem of last years class but she got injured. Tara Redshirted and Lingle struggled at times with the speed of the game(7-min, 35% FG and 2-pts/game). That left us with Eide(really good) and Steph(good).
I think that Gabby will redshirt but adding 4 players(with Leah and Tara) will help this team.
Your comment about experience got me wondering about the last couple years. I know it's not by the numbers but I thought I'd throw them in anyway.
            2008-2009 Roster
            1)Jen- 27 minutes
            2)Stacie- 21 minutes
            3)Muck- 19 minutes
            4)Meier- 8 minutes
            TOTAL- 75 minutes.
            2009-2010 Roster
            1)Maria- 28 minutes
            2)Ketty- 28 minutes
            3)Alison- 11 minutes
TOTAL- 67 minutes(I didn't include Vanessa because she only played in 14 games).
We had 3 seniors last year for senior leadership(Ketty, Maria and Alison) and we'll have 3 seniors next year for senior leadership(Macie, Kristin and Schuttloffel). I'd have a tough time picking which group of seniors I'd rather have. One group has the better #5 and the other has the better #1.

Wonder who will be the big weapon offensivly this year.I'm hoping it's not just one or two players each & every game though.Hoping we have so many great offensive players that any given game, anybody could explode for 20 points or so.Of course, you want players who are consistent scoring too ?Hard to predict who the step up players are going to be, we have so many players with great potential.Guess that's what makes sports so appealing to people, the expectations of a team that's even better than those of previous years.Only time will tell.

                Re: 2010-2011 Schedule

                From TV's blog

                http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs...Id=personaDest

WNIT min 3 games up to 4 games if in the championship 4. Hopefully not paired with Purdue right away, as they are one of the few that could outdraw the Jacks (hence not a home game).

                Home
                Iowa
                Il St.
                AZ St
(all back ends of home and home)

                Away
                UNI
                MTSU
                WA St
                UALR
                KS St.

So that's 11 OOC's scheduled, and leaves little room to add.

Likely Exhibition vs BHSU, at BHSU. Gives good exposure of Jacks in western SD. + one other.

Can't add more than 1 game to the regular season. Think that USD or UND may get squeezed in on one of the NDSU weekends?

Classless move by A.J. to not follow through with the BHSU game. In all fairness, he was probably at a disadvantage because the game was made public. However, he shouldn't have dangled the doggy treat in front of the pup if he wasn't going to give it to him.

ummm...it was a little odd that BHSU made the game public before our schedule was finalized and released - or a contract was signed for that matter. Status quo seems to be letting the higher classified team release the news first - same reason why you don't see our FB team releasing news on their FBS games before the FBS teams have their schedule finalized and released.

Sorry SDHoops, but the only way that it would be classless on AJ's part would be if the deal was signed OR if AJ or the Athletic Dep't had given BHSU the go ahead on releasing the information. The immediate response to BHSU's announcement was that it had been discussed, nothing had been finalized and that scheduling negotiations are continuing in a number of areas. I suspect (and readily admit that I have no factual basis or inside information) that someone at BHSU jumped the gun in the hopes that everything would get worked out. The same could be said for a biased post regarding an issue not discussed with the individuals making the final decisions.

I like the regional games and the games in TN and WA. Hope to make the trip down to Manhatten, KS.

Classless? Pretty strong words for someone who clearly does not know all the facts.
