Out of 7 POW awards, ORU players have won out right or shared the honor 6 times.Evidently, no other teams in the entire Summit League has any players of consequence who can even begin to compare to the athletic prowess of the great & mighty Oral Roberts womens basketball team.It didn't raise my curiosity until this last week when they gave it to Jaci Bigham .In the write up , they mentioned the loss to Okla St & the win over a non-div1 opponent ,Evangel.OK, the game against Okla St. was the week before the week of the POW award,it was already given out for that week to,who else, Luper & Jeltema from Oakland, co-players for that week.So that leaves her winning the award for soley her performance in beating an inferior (sp) opponent .Her accolades, shooting a average 41% from the field, shooting under her teams fg% for the game while taking more than a third of the teams shots on goal.If you do give it to someone from ORU again, why not Voelker, she shot 7-10, 70% from the field and 2-2 from three point land. She wasted far less of ORU's pocessions than did Bigham.Just wondering out loud about the whole selection process. Is it about scoring points only?Okla St was in the same wk as Evangel, my bad, just barely ,22nd & 29th.
