  • AJ at Yankton QB club

Record attendance once again at the QB club. Happens twice a year, when Stig comes and when AJ comes. Need to get a local player on Nagy's team.

AJ mentioned the tough schedule, the "newness" of this years team despite 4 returning starters, last years seniors were so important. Mentioned how the success of last season puts pressure on the program to continue to improve, he thinks it will. He wouldn't say who will redshirt this year, he lets the players have a say in that and he isn't sure right now.

Mentioned the they are half-way to the 190 million goal. Talked about the Dykhouse center opening soon. Talked about some concessions he made to schedule the USD game and made it clear that USD wanted this game a lot more than he did but that he is okay with it. No intention to play in Vermillion until Summit league play, just doesn't make any sense. Called it a bit of a "trap game" with the NDSU game the Saturday just 2 nights before.

Welcomed USD to the Summit league. Important edition especially since Centenary is moving down. I know we haven't talked much about that recently but they are done at the DI level. Expects UND to enter IF they can resolve name issue. They won't be in the Summit league as the Sioux.

Signing day is Wednesday. All 3 MN recruits will sign. Excited about the upcoming Summit season and the league tourney in Sioux Falls. Disappointed by the officiating in the Baylor game last year. He's watched the tape, no way around it, officials missed or made a lot of bad calls.

Again, best attendance of the year at the QB club. Big Thank You to AJ.

P.S. They were giving away tickets to the game in Vermillion Saturday (had at least 50 of them) against SUU, I didn't see any takers. If you want a ticket to the coyote game contact Dutch or James with the QB club or PM me I'll get you their contact info.

I am going to to say" IT begins with State". Of the 190 million I believe something like 16 or 19 million is for athletics. This was started before Justin Sells arrived so it does not include the CAS replacement. Mostly for the indoor facility, athletic scholarships and a few other items.

Exactly. Perhaps I was vague. When AJ or the other coaches speak at functions they always start out by promoting SDSU the institution and the foundation. I must admit they usually do a very good job. When Stig was down here this spring for the golf tourney I almost handed him signed blank check, almost. So, AJ was just filling everybody in on the excitement and the need for money to sustain that excitement at SDSU.

I've heard they're over $100 million. "It Starts with State" is the theme. It's still in the quiet phase. They'll officially announce the campaign before long.
            Holy nutmeg!

Just askin': Isn't "quiet phase" anathema to a $190 million fundraising campaign?

No way. In fund-raising, the first half has to come from large contributions and so a lot of work is done before there is a big push for the "more contributors, smaller dollars" phase. Actually, the campaign has been announced earlier ($190 million over six year period), but fund-raising has been in the "quiet" (read: personal pitches and contacts for major donors) stage.
